Lindau

In Catholic parts of the world, such as Southern Germany, Carnival is a big thing. It is the celebration of spring coming and, nowadays, start of lent. We visited Lindau (a city close to the border between Germany and Austria) where premature Carnival was taking place.

5 hours of standing and seeing the Narren walk in a parade through the city. During the parade, the trolls and witches (and whichever costume the specific village may be wearing) will throw candy to the children and try and steal the adults’ hats and so on. Great fun!
